Your air conditioner has worked hard this summer and we still have some more heat coming. Just because the date on the calendar has changed over to fall doesn’t mean you’re through with your AC for the season. Staying on top of annual AC maintenance, while also following a handful of other tips, can help you maintain your air conditioner while staying comfortable too.
Clean Around Your Outdoor Unit
Debris can build up around your outside unit, especially during the fall. When the time comes to rake up the leaves in your yard, make sure to rake up the leaves and debris around your air conditioner. Debris can inhibit air flow, causing your system to work harder and wear down faster. We want your air conditioner to last as long as it can.
Raise the Temperature on Your Thermostat
Have your thermostat set at the highest temperature you can while still staying comfortable. Whenever possible, take advantage of additional cooling methods such as fans. The lower you set your thermostat
, the harder your system will have to work to get to that temperature. You may think switching off your system completely will save on energy and help your system, but that just creates more ground for it to make up when you turn it back on. It will have to work harder for a longer amount of time, which is another contributing factor that could lead to premature system failure.
Keep Up With AC Maintenance
Keeping a well-maintained system with regular, annual AC maintenance
is so critical. Our technicians will look at your air conditioner thoroughly and be sure the electric is working as it should, the coils and filters are clean and so much more. We take a close look to catch small problems before they become major breakdowns and turn in to an AC repair
