Spring is finally here. We’re pretty sure your to-do list already feels too long, but we have a handful of things that will save you some problems and keep you comfy in the months to come. The weather is already heating up in Thedford and the last thing you want is to find out is that you need AC repair. Going through this simple checklist now could save you from sweating this summer.
- Inspect Your Air Filter and Ducts
Swapping your air filter makes it to almost all of our lists of things to check because it's so important and so often forgotten. If your air filter is filthy, your system will have to work harder to keep you cozy. This costs you more money and causes more work on the system which decreases the life and efficiency of your system. Your ducts and registers are an additional piece of the puzzle that is often forgotten as well. While you're spring cleaning, take off the covers from your registers and vacuum inside them. While you have the covers pulled off, soak them in mild dish soap, give them a scrub and replace them after they've dried.
- Clean Your Outdoor Unit
Keep any outdoor units free of debris such as grass clippings, leaves or plant overgrowth. This debris can inhibit your system and cause it to decrease its efficiency.
- Schedule Your Annual AC Tune-Up
This is where we enter the picture to help you tackle that to-do list. An annual AC tune-up helps improve the life of your system and keeps it operating at top efficiency. Spring is the ideal time to schedule your tune-up so any concerns or AC repair that needs to be made can be addressed before the hot summer months. The cost of a tune-up is a minimal investment into the life of your system. Think of it as giving your air conditioner an oil change.
We can't help you with your entire spring to-do list, but we can help you with all things involving your home comfort. We want to be sure you’re cool and comfortable all summer long. If you have any questions about spring cleaning, your system or need to arrange your annual AC tune-up, please give us a call at 519-296-4437.
